Fully forged 383 or hyperutectic 370? I don't plan on nitrous or boost. I want reliable power throughout the tach I have a Fast102 intake and 243 heads I'll send to WCCH to be ported, cam will be in the high220s-low230s intake and mid 230s exhaust. Like a 227/234 599 590 on 113. Just a shot in the dark guess. I have a Yank SS3600 I'll be upgrading from my Trailblazer SS. I have a Silverado with hardened axles, diff, and 4.11 gears from when it was Prochargerd. The headers and ORY will mate to my old Duramax exhaust from my diesel with a Borla muffler. The 383 using an iron block but everything is forged and it is an extra 1k plus it pulls the piston further out of the bite leading to questionable longevity. So save the 1k, lose 13 ci, and marginal power is a wise idea right?

On stock heads, it slows down port velocity, which in turn makes it feel more lethargic in everyday driving.
You want high port velocity early in the rpm range to get it moving.
If this were a car, I’d say port them.
I pulled my CNC 317s off in favor of as-is 706s. It’s a night and day difference. Got my low-middle grunt back and it still pulls good up top.
Be realistic in how you’re going to use the vehicle and you’ll be happier with how it turns out.

Ok with a 370, stock 243s, Fast 102, Yank SS3600, 4.11 gears, and 29" tires what cam should I consider? I was thinking something like a 222/224 or 226/232 on a 114. I want strong bottom end and midrange with a mild lope. Enough so you know it's there but not so much it repeats
