2000 Silverado Conversion
1 Attachment(s)
Hey y'all I have a 2000 Reg. Cab Silverado with a 5.3 up front and the 4L60e. My question is what would be the better course of action:
1). Supercharge the 5.3 2). Bore it out to 5.7 3). Swap in an LS3 My goal is to make this truck a 400 HP/400 lb ft torque sport truck. |
Out of those 3 I would go with the supercharger. Will cost the most though.
I've seen a Magna setup for 5 K but my thought is that for a hair more I could get the bigger motor.
Save up for a transmission as well and support mods.
Oh yeah for sure.
How much budget u working with
My budget would be about 10 K. Is that too low?
I would personally turbocharge her and a 4l80 with supporting mods

^^^ i'd do that myself, but in his choices i would go ls3
Not that I have done any of this to my truck, but.... LS3 with minor upgrades, full exhaust, and some tuning should be more than enough to get him to his goal. Plus, still leave money for a good transmission.

Update ---
Thanks for the responses guys.
I've done a shake up in my plans and would really be grateful for some advice... I want to cam and stall my truck. Right now I'm looking to keep the guts stock (I.E. LM7, 4L60, 3.73 w/ G80) but I'm trying to get my combo down. I've looked at 224/224, 220/220, and even 214/220 cams mated to a 3600-2800 stall with accessory mods to keep it all running smooth (I.E. lifters, springs, etc.) My goal is to keep this truck as a good daily but with the obligatory red light attitude and performance. If that doesn't make sense I apologize but does anyone have any advice on what combo I should run? |
Off Topic: How much is it lowered?
cam, heads, 3600 stall and 410 gear...you will have a grin from ear to ear.
