*Summit Racing's Budget 6.0L LS Build*

We’re big fans of budget builds and that’s precisely what we have on tap for this video series. This is part 1 of 4 for the series. Starting with a junkyard SBE 6.0L LS block with its 317 heads, we're adding one of our Pro LS Vortec truck cams with LS7 lifters. The whole build is being topped off with a Holley Hi-Ram intake manifold. Ford purists might want to skip this next parthttps://ls1tech.com/forums/images/sm...ch/gr_cool.gif The engine is going into a 1978 F-100. How cool is that?

*Summit Racing's Budget 6.0L LS Build - Part 2*

After the teardown in Part One, we’re getting a good look at the condition of this former junkyard 6.0L LS block. Before parts start going back in we need to inspect the bearings and make some key measurements. We lay out more parts for the project and show handy engine assembly tips along the way. It all goes down here in episode two of our Budget 6.0L LS engine build series.

Summit Racing's Budget 6.0L LS Build - Part 3

Episode three of our 6.0L LS buildup begins with the installation of new cam bearings. Along the way, we show you a nifty tool that makes that job easier too. With the cam in and happy we bolt on the rear cover and main seal. Then we move up front to install an upgraded timing set. Then we give you a closer look at the specially-clearanced oil pan we’re using. If you recall, this LS is going into a vintage Ford truck, which means it needs to clear the truck’s front crossmember. Give this video a look and you’ll get a good idea of how this build will turn out.

Summit Racing's Budget 6.0L LS Build - Part 4

It's been a minute since we've updated this. Here's part 4.

After getting the stock 317 LS cylinder heads cleaned up by our pals over at Total Engine Airflow, they’re ready to go back onto the engine. Once the heads are installed, we finish the valvetrain assembly and bolt the valve covers back on. Up front, the LS motor gets the timing cover reinstalled, along with the balancer/damper and water pump. Finally, we top off the entire build with that glorious Holley intake. With the engine build mostly finished at this point, the LS is ready to go into—Blue Oval purists look away here—a sweet 1978 Ford F100 pickup truck.
