wuts cheaper rebuild or used 4l60e

Trany slippn i think from first to second the rpms go up 3 to 4 hundred at wot before it shifts wondering if anybody has rebuilt one and how hard is it and how much money they spent i can get a 4l60e for 600 with 70k on it from lkq just wondering cause money is tight and lost my job

It'll be cheaper for the used one. You have to spend too much money on tools to rebuild one right.

man..i'm trying to give mine away at $400 then. i just can't find anyone who wants it. too bad you're that far away.

You have a modified vehicle and are actually considering buying another stock transmission? I guess if you haven't learned your lesson yet, you probably never will.

^(hopefully my opinion shines brightly)

that what you wanted? he is right. i know the used is cheaper but doing it 3 times versus a slightly built trans is not. you will be buying a trans out a JUNK yard for a high performance vehicle.

just baby it until you can get enough money to do the job right. it will save you in the long run trust me

How many people on here break built transmissions?

A lot.

whel sounds like geting a built trany is better then this mite be a dumb question putin a shift kit in the trany replacing the clutch plates and bands or just getin a tci trany

and if every bought used instead of built then you would probably see more broke trans threads... just sayin

wait whats the question? you will have to replace lip seals orings sealing rings. theres a lot more to a trans build than just replacing some clutches and slapping it back together.

basicly a complete overhaul on the tranny a put in a shift kit while im at it cause i can get a overhaul kit for 100 and a shift kit for 200

If you have only one car, and no longer have a job, its probably a better idea to just put in the junkyard one.

You might find other things wrong when you open that transmission up. I'm assuming the overhaul kit is just bands and clutches like you said?

You'll probably end up spending the same with the rebuild and junkyard transmission. Doesn't seem smart to me to spend money on a built one in your situation... I wouldn't. Unless you get a good deal.
