Launching!
Thats okay, these trannys make out around 600hp i believe for stock.
I would invet in a good shift kit Trans go, Sunnox, are good kits, around 70-120, get a good cooler a tru cool 40k is popular and easy to install, maybe a few other extras but will be good to go. Saves money for more fun stuff!
I would look into spending money on a driveshaft. If going into a truck, the 2 piece driveshafts are good but they do NOT like high speeds, i would look up a Ujoint upgrade and high speed balancing to keep from destroying a driveshaft and more.

A built 3in thick walled steel driveshaft is what I'd do.
The factory aluminum driveshafts in the half tons are not rated for speeds above 100mph nor are they "heavy duty".
Yes a fresh stock 4L80e will hold 500hp no problem. Some have taken them to extreme power, well into the 800-900hp range and a few have touched 1000whp. How long they last at those power level is the question, so what you are after a built transmission is not exactly required.
