Default wheels on an SS

tried doing a search but couldnt find the exact answer i needed. i just recently bought a 2005 silverado ss and will be needing snow tires, so i was just wondering what the smallest size wheel i can put on there is. i can get a good deal on a set of 16s, but i think those might be too small. thanks for any help in advance.

17"s

That way if you ever lower it with spindles than 17 are the smallest you can run.

I just got 4 mint wheels off ebay, 2005 aluminum 5 spoke.

Whatever the spair is in 05 too. It may be 16 but that wouldn't make sense if you have rear drum brakes wich require 17's.

You got rear drum brakes? My '05 SS has four wheel disc.

Some 05s have disc and some have drum. i guess it depends what part of the year it was made in.

I would say look at your spare tire and see what it is. I know alot of the 05s 17" is the smallest you can run.

My spare is a 17" and I have rear drums. I put some 15" wheels in the back at the track and had no problems doing it. However when I was looking into a drop kit, I was told the 03-04 SS spindle would not work on my truck.
