Default What Tranny on a 99-04 5.3l
Just like the thread says, What tranny is on the 99-04 5.3liter trucks. is it the 4L60 or the 4L80? thanks guys!

4l60e 80's were only in the HD and 2500 trucks

is the 4L80 a direct swap? my 4L60 (2002 5.3L)is gettin ready to go and i want to upgrade for strength... sorry didnt mean to hijack just thought it was a pertinent Q if notlet me know and ill start a new thread, thanks

no its not a direct swap... you have to get the 4L80e flexplate, 4L80e TC, shorter driveshaft, 4L80e crossmember, and some wiring changes...

I wouldn't do it....too parasitic, too much power loss.. you're truck will barely move and you will regret it.
