Did you just use axle shims or raise/lower the tranny or both?

I have a 2/3 drop, but it seems lower than most 2/4s

ok. I have heard that just about everyone who has swapped to a 4l80 has had to shim the rearend. I have a flip kit so i definitely had to shim mine.

Ya, i am deciding on shiming versus cutting off the spring perches and welding up some new one...

Re-welding spring perches > axle shims. But either way gets the job done. If you use shims, you'll need to replace the center bolt in your leaf packs to one with a longer head on it. The stock bolt head is too short to go thru the shim and still locate the perch.

Agreed, but i think i am going to use shims first just to prove that is the issue. Then this summer when i relocate the shocks I will strip the axle down and redo the perches....

The shims i have order come with a new bolt so i am good there. Hopefully this resolves my issue....

Mine has vibrated for the past 2 years since the 80e swap. I basically resolved it by shimming the trans up. But mine is basically due to a scewed up sriveshaft. I am planning to swap to a 1 piece ds because getting all the angles correct with the 2 pc shaft is a real headache. I just need the $650 for the 1 pc shaft. If you do have a vib i would recommend fixing it asap bc it will take out your tranny tailshaft seal and/or bushing or the rear pinion seal

Ya i have shims on order right now. I am just not going heavy throttle. That is where i get the vibration.

I just measures everything again.
Rearend +4
Driveshaft -1
Transmission -4.

So the angles are way off. I should have it better this weekend.
