trouble getting Sonnax servos in
I am using all Sonnax servos, with new Sonnax pin. I installed everything without the orings and seals to check clearance. I put the seals and orings in place, then installed the servos. I cant get it to seat so I can put the clip in. Im sure it's just the friction from the seals, but does anyone have any ideas of how to get them seated it, or compressed so I can put the clip it. A tool or something, I dont want to damage anything.
I tried a bar clamp with the trigger type system but I oculdnt get enough force. i could buy a large screw type bar clamp, but I wasnt sure if it was supposed to be this hard to get them compressed.

Make sure that you have everything lubed up and also that the servo return spring is seated in the case correctly. Often times it will drop and not allow you to get the assembly in all the way. You could always grease the spring in the case before trying to install the 2nd and 4th servo assemblies. HTH Vince

Everything was fine. I had an extra oring for the servo, so I cut the other one out. turns out a really didnt lube it.
Last question: On the Sonnax setup, there is one gold washer. Im assuming this is a spacer. With the washer installed everything is too tight, without it the clearance is perfect. Can i omit the washer or is this something that has to be in there. The instructions are not clear.

I did reply to your PM earlier this morning but for the sake of the thread for future users doing a search this is the message I sent.
You absolutely need to use the gold washer supplied with the sonnax 4th servo. This is used so the piston in the cover has a surface to push on other that the "E" clip on the servo pin. Also without it I have read reports of a no 4th gear condition.
As long as you can turn the output shaft in both direction its my opinion that the band is not to tight. Not sure why you would have to grind the pin unless you added a longer pin or if you are using the sonnax servo as well.
In most cases I never have to grind the factory 2 ID groove pin that is found in most all 60 units. However in many cases I do add a trans go shim in between the 4th and 2nd servo covers to adjust the band clearance.
So in your case and not knowing what you have done I question if maybe you have something flipped or miss installed. Vince

Thanks. I ended up grinding the tip of the pin a very small amount. I took the pan off to check the band to see if it moved at all. It was tight, it would budge even when pried with a screw driver. After grinding the tip of the pin it loosened up a bit. The band wiggles and the servos dont move much when installed. Im much more comfortable with it now.
thanks for everyones help.
