Transmission crossmember
#1
Going to start working on the frame for my 89 soon. Planning out my crossmembers and such. I was going to build a trans crossmember from parts but found a few places that have nice kits that are what I had in mind just as a package deal
Mostly street driving it, some track time. 5.3 with solid mounts, 80e trans.
My question is wha would you guys go with
This trans crossmember
https://www.cachassisworks.com/p-138...max-width.aspx
Or this one
Universal Transmission Crossmember Mount : TMR Customs, Custom Fabrication Components for Offroad Vehicles
I'm a little worried about strength but I know a lot of guys run crossmember a like these.

Either one will work fine. The cross member is only there to support the transmission. It really does not see much of a load. In fact, some really big powered race cars do not even use one, in some cars we just use a pair of link bars that have heim joints on both ends. That allows the powertrain and driveline to "float" under a heavy load.
Good Luck with the project!
