Transgo Shift Firmness...

Instaling the Transgo HD2 (4l80e) and was wondering what hole sizes to go with for the ABC holes. Options are:

A-4th
B-3rd
C-2nd

Hole Sizes
Average= 0.86
Softer= 0.76
Firm= 0.96

I am going to be running a Circle D Triple Disc Convertor with about 2800 stall and turbo. Want to make sure I am not on the harsh shifting side by opening them up too far. I am assuming the 1st to 2nd is the one I should be more worried about? Any Suggestions are welcomed because everything I have read is a little confusing as there is not a definitive write-up given my mods. Thank you!

I did .96 on all three of mine, have yet to know what it shifts like though.

Identical response as what I was going to post.

Is the trans stock other then a shift kit? You are talking about a 80e right?

No other mods with the trans, and it's an 80e/lq4 matchup. I am just a lil worried how the 1-2 shift is gonna feel with the converter. Seeing what others have done with similar set-up and how they like it.

Also which ACCUM SPRING setup did everyone use for shift firmness?

Both Large and Small springs (Average).
Large outer spring only (Firm).
Small inner spring (Firmest).

I used the firmest on that as well. :lol:

Stock converter?

Suburbazine Aug 5, 2013 09:55 PM

On my setup the builders went with firmest everything. It is definitely a positive shift, even a little jarring if I happen to be shifting through gears while in lockup, but it's not a bad engagement. 1-2 will pop the tires loose at WOT and all the other shifts are very crisp but get eaten by the converter.

I'm running stock line pressures FYI. When I first got the trans back I was still running my very high 60E pressure settings and the trans was literally chirping the tires on light throttle shifts.

No, Circle D Single Disc.
