Traction bars for lifted truck....
Have kind of a stupid question about traction bars, or ladder bars for my silverado.....1500 w/ 6"lift with 2500hd springs and torsion bars, i am getting a ridiculous amount of wheel hop and traction is nonexistent... Ive seen the typical under axle ladder bars but tuff country also has over axle traction bars, what would be the pros and cons of both styles and would it be beneficial or counter productive to run both styles??

I wish I had good pics of my ORD ladder bar but I think for lifted aplications you can't beat a single ladder bar welded directly to the tube on the passenger side and attached to a cross member with a shackle.
No axle wrap No bind during flex Not as much weight as 2 Doesn't hang low and kill ground clearance. Extremely durable they are built for 1 ton trucks on 40s so I doubt anything our 1/2 can do will stress it. All poly bushings and the heim on the shackle end has a zerk fitting. I can't think of anything else but I love mine and I'm glad I didn't go with a cheaper bolt on solution because I didn't want ride quality to suffer on or off road. |
I am leaning towrds a bolt on at this point becausebif this rear end goes im thinking 9.5" 6lug rear end!!!

Mine spins and hops all at the same time.... And at this point doesnt take much, even with 78lb tires

Wow. My only changes to the rear are 3" blocks instead of 2, Bilstein 5100's and the small Air Lift helper bags but I generally only run 10 lbs in them when I'm not towing or hauling anything.

Ive got springs in the rear off of a 2500 hd and they were about the biggest option they had, some like 18,500lb rating or something....

Stiff springs should help prevent wrap. How big is your lift block that hurts it alot! I would disagree I think the over axle would be stronger becuase it forces the axle to pull on the bars rather than push. I don't really think it would make a huge difference because with 2 bars you should have no wrap at all but on top would look cleaner and not kill clearance. Unless you like that look.
