Default Torque Converter Advice for a Stock Truck...

I'm thinking I'd like to get a converter for my truck. Only true mod is the tune.

It's an 06 Sierra, Crew cab, 4X4, with 6.0 LQ9, 4l70e, 4.10 gears, running 32 inch tires. It's big and it's heavy...

I'd like the converter to get off the line better, to lessen the rpm drop after an up shift, and to add some power where the next lower gear isn't an option. Going WOT when cruising between 35mph and 45mph is painful.

Anyone know what the stock stall speed of my converter is? It will brake stall to 2200, but seems to only flash to 1900ish when punched from a stop.

Is a 3000 too much for a stock truck that sees truck duties? (daily driving, towing, mild off road, etc).

Would a 3000 let me put a small cam in down the road without going to a higher stall?

I've been looking at the stock TB converters and the upgraded TBTC that Circle D sells.

Just looking for insight for a stockish truck, which I have not been able to find here by searching, SO MANY AWESOME TRUCKS HERE!

A 3000 rpm stall is about right for a stock truck retaining good street behavior. You will definately want a good aftermarket trans fluid cooler. Sure, a 3000 is a good match with a smallish cam.

I think out 278MM modified TB I6 would be a nice fit for you. It will bump your WOT RPM up like you want, but still maintain nice street manors. They are $375 for PTnet members. Shoot me a PM if interested or give me a call, be glad to answer any other questions you have.
