torque converter?
I have a lifted truck on 39.5" tires and a small torque cam and a fuddle 2600 converter. My truck is a little heavier than stock also as I have done an sfa swap with all 1 ton running gear. Before I bought the 2600 converter, I talked with fuddle and they assured that the 2600 would not be too much stall. After searching I believe that it may be too loose. From a stop, it takes a good bit of throttle to get it to move and it rolls backward with no throttle. At highway speeds, I think it may be slipping causing really bad gas mileage. My question is, are all higher stall converters like this? Is 2600 too much for my truck? Should I try to get another one or just put the stock one back in?

I've always heard Fuddles to be extremely loose and for what you are doing, I would look into a 2600 Yank....Yank sets it up tight that it drives like stock from what I have read. No experiece with the 2600 Yank or Fuddles.....but the 2800 Yank and 3000 drives really good on the street, I have experience with those.

I wish I had went with the yank 2600. It even has a higher str of 2.10 compared to fuddles 1.9. Since I already have a fuddle, is there any way of getting fuddle to fix this one or do they just build all of there converters loose?

My vote (will alwas be) is go back to stock. though I've never had a Yank......

I am going to put the stock one back in to be sure that is my problem. I will probably just settle for the stocker instead of buying a yank because I don't want to be out any more money than I already am.

How long have you had the Fuddle in? When I installed the Yank, I had the devil's own time with air bubbles trapped in the converter causing the same symptoms you mentioned. Might want to give it a couple weeks, checking the ATF level frequently, and see if things improve.

It has been in for 9-10000 miles. No change at all since install.

39" tires?? SAS?? What is your final gear ratios? What do you want, awesome 4x4 offroad or speed? Unless you're mudding only, go to the lowest stall speed converter you can find. |
yes fuddle can restall your converter, and if you bought it straight from them it is free... when I ordered my 3200fuddle I told them I wanted it in a 2.2str, and it is very very streetable,,,, I would give them another try, restall it to a hight str, maybe even a 2.4str, and maybe restall it lower to like a 2000-2300 if you think the 2600 is too much..
