I got this on my setup, makes going from 5 to 6 easy notch the existing hole back 2 inches and reuse 5 speed boot. Only thing i wish i had is a piece of foam to kill the road noise like the 5 speed had.

Which gear ratios did you go with in the T56? 2.97 1st or 2.66 1st?

Looking to do the swap in my '02 ECSB.

I have an F-body trans so it has the 2.66 first gear. It works great with the 4.88's. You could also go with a gto trans that has the 2.97 if you wanted but the 2.66's perform fine to me.

For a truck, most will say the GTO T56 is more ideal, but they are harder to find and usually more expensive. I went with an F-body LS1 because I got it got under $1k.

For reference, the 2.66 gives me a top speed in 1st of 47mph, while 2.97 would give me 42 mph, at 6500 RPM, 4.88 gears, 31.22" tires. It's up to you whether or not that's enough of a difference.

Also the GTO trans will let you spin your driveshaft slower for the same speed.

For front shift conversion call Keisler.

As for T56 swap stuff-

There are a bunch listed in this thread.

https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...thread-381877/

Not sure what pages but you'll just have to dig through. I read through this thread a several times before I did my swap, and made a list of parts and part numbers. Although mine was easier since it was already a manual.

Also got my parts from different places. sdparts, classifides (here and on tech side), dealership, and summit.

Im starting my '87 LS/T56 soon and this thread has been a GREAT start in my research.

Since Keisler is out of business, I have found the Front mount shifter conversion here...
