Sonnax Line-to-Lube Press Reg valve 80E
Does anyone have any experience with this valve? It supposedly increases cooler flow under Low RPM conditions.
http://www.sonnax.com/system/announcement/34200-14K.pdf My trans temp rises quickly and unless i take it easy, it seems like it wants to just keep going up. I have a Tru-Cool 40K mounted behind my bumper with a small fan that covers about half of it. I was wondering if this valve would help at all. |
No experience with the kit, however the fan mounted to the Tru-Cool is killing the cooling performance. Only 30% of the area covered by the fan (the outer edges) is seeing any real air flow and the other 60% is probably not getting anything. Only good way to make a fan work with a tru-cool is to build a shroud and pull air through.
Also, my 80E will pump 3 pints of fluid every 10 seconds at idle, so I don't know if boosting the flow will help you much. |
I put one in mine when i rebuilt it. What would you like to know?
|
Mine has one, but I never ran a stock 80e to compare to.

Mine pumps 3 pints in 10 seconds too. That's how much pissed out on the floor when I started it with the pressure plug out after the rebuild.

I'm going to take suburbazine's advice and build a shroud for my fan. It's something i've been trying to avoid, but it needs to be done. |
Mine mounts in the front grill behind my heat exchanger.

What temps do you see, where is your cooler mounted, and did you bypass the rad?
I know your trans runs around 145, but where do you have your cooler mounted? I'm going to take suburbazine's advice and build a shroud for my fan. It's something i've been trying to avoid, but it needs to be done. |
The only space i have behind the grill to mount mine, would be sandwiched in between the condenser and radiator.
Should I try that? It would be easier than fabbing up a shroud... |

Should I try that? It would be easier than fabbing up a shroud... That's guaranteed airflow so that would work. Might not get as cold as being in front but it would cool better than at the moment. |
