I may just take it to a dealer to get it flushed and bled right. Thanks for the offer!

I believe the theory is that by allowing the ABS to cycle under hard braking it should help shake loose any air that may be trapped in the system. The ABS pump pulses under load and cycles the fluid through the system creating the pulsing affect.

Not sure if it's as effective as doing it with the scan tool though. I have only used a scan tool to perform this procedure.

This may sound like a obvious response but make sure that the bleeders are on top. I didn't pay attention on mine when I swapped the calipers because on the front the calipers can bolt to either side. When I did it I mistakingly put the bleeders down and air got trapped in the calipers. And it wasn't until I realized it that I switched it and bleed the last of the air out. Before that it would brake but feel spongy. Anyway I hope this may help although I don't think to many can make the bonehead mistake I made but it's worth the chance to check

Bleeders are up.

I called the local dealer and they want $94 for an automated bleed, and $109 for a system flush without the automated bleed, or $203 for both. Sound about right? They also said the master might need to be bench bled since I removed that one line to it.

I did a 60-10 stop coming to work today and got the ABS working a little bit, the pedal was pretty much bottomed out. Pedal is still shitty mush though. I will find a dirt road and really work the ABS and then bleed again.

The BMW 540i has the same issue. We tried the "skidding around" approach for about an hour but never got the brake pedal right. Ended up using a computer tool to run the ABS pump and bleed at the same time, took care of the issue.

After you try the "dirt road" method you need to rebleed the system, the air has now moved out of the abs block and is the lines.

Unfortunately, Yes Dealers have high over head and the labor rate varies from 100-125 an hour. Some brands are even higher...

Unfortunately, I still feel regardless of what and how you bleed it you will still end up needing to have the automated procedure done with the scan tool.

It makes a world of difference even on a normal brake job.
