I did it today. Put it in park, and used a 1/2 breaker bar to remove the bolt CCW. It came out easily, I was surprised.

Awesome, thanks man. Now once you get it off, do you have to take off the tail housing to see what kind of output shaft if has? And possibly change it for the slip yoke?

I need to do more research on output shafts for this thing. But I heard that is it best to machine down the output shaft where the o-ring is so that the slip yoke can slide on further. But I'm curious if the output shaft can just be replaced. I spent about 4 hours this morning tearing it all apart and now would be a good time to replace/machine the output shaft if needed.

Yea I'm trying to avoid swapping output shafts. I hear from some people you can just run the same shaft but get a certain yolk. Idk. I have to look into it a bit more. Did you tear down the internals?

I'm going to get this slip yoke for my 80E swap: Chevy and GM 3R Series Transmission Slip yoke for TH400 with long tailshaft housing

If I also want to replace the u-joint do I just need a 3R u-joint, like this? GM 3R series Spicer Universal Joint maintenance free

Any downside to maintenance free or greaseable?

Would there be any benefit to getting a 1350 slip yoke and then a 1350-3R combination u-joint?

Does that slip yoke slide all the way in? I think they have another one that I sent you a PM about. It supposedly designed for bolt on yokes. I think it is slightly more expensive but may mitigate the cost if you have to get this one machined down like some talk about.

The one I posted says it's counterbored 2", so it should slip over the o-ring lip that's on the bolt-on output shaft. It may still need to be cut down to slide in all the way, not sure yet. Or the output shaft can be machined down slightly like Jake does.

i would say no, sure you have the stronger 1350 on one end but you still have the 3r on the other.

and if you would break down you could easily get another one from a parts store.
