I've read your comment 10x and can't figure out what you mean.

Its possible to not get the torque converter seated all the way. You wait for the appropriate number of clunks while rotating it on. Then you measure play. I think jake told me it should slide almost an inch in.

If you don't get it in all the way, you can kill your pump and send shavings through your cooler and torque converter, contaminating the entire system.

Here is the result of improper converter installation. That groove near the shaft should not exist.

It should look more like this.

The whole clunk/click thing is BS! Never ever use that as an indicator of tq. converter install.

Taking the proper measurements is easy and not time consuming.

Feel the clunks, then measure!

Like I said, it's BS, similar to the "turns" method for pushrod length. Installing my converter on the billet front shaft there were NO clunks. Just a lot of resistance.

This is the internet. You're supposed to argue over things that don't exist!

I do the clunk test and measure. Plus Transbuilderguy sent me what the measurement from the converter pad to the bell housing should be.

Then I spaced out the converter from the flex plate with a washer at each of the three holes. Ill load pics in a bit.

My billet shaft was snug to say the least also.
