Default Was it safe?

I didn't intend to but I did ~ 110-112 today getting around a few slow movers on the toll road. Everything seemed normal but was that safe for my driveshaft...RCSB? Thanks.

Maybe?

As far as I am aware with the factory speed limiters still being at 100mph, they don't really rate them above that. I wouldn't push my luck that's for sure.

Years back when I ditched the stock driveshaft, I removed it to install my 5” and found that it was cracked. Kinda a oh **** moment. Glad I decided to remove it when I did. Could have been ugly.

Get one built Ted.

You never know what's going to happen the next time you do that.

Safety over pleasure my friend.

Wow not good. Thanks gentlemen. I'll start looking for something. Any suggestions on the '14 model?

A local driveshaft shop should be able to build you one. I would do like a 5in aluminum one. Yours is a 1pc right?

I dont mean to derail but my question is along the same lines for the stock driveshaft....Does the rear gear dictate the critical speed for the driveshaft?
example: I did the t56 swap and used my stock driveshaft, the rear was geared at 3.73 but i put in 4.56 at the same time.
so now the critical speed for the drive shaft could possibly be a lot lower, in theory the driveshaft is spinning faster now.
I want to get a built driveshaft anyways but its been almost 4 years since the swap and i havent had problems yet. I have had the truck up to about 110 but very rarely over 90 on a regular basis, texas highways some times require it.

You are correct. Critical speed of the driveshaft needs to be thought of in driveshaft RPM. In other words, final drive ratio and tire size play a huge roll!

Yes sir it is. Sure am thankful it didn't let go at that speed. Wouldn't have been pretty at all.

I think Driveshaft Specialists in TX does a very good one for a decent price. This is who I will likely be going with in a few weeks for mine.
