Removing overload leaf springs...
I was thinking of removing the overload leaf springs on the truck since I never carry anything heavy. Has anyone done this? Are there any side effects after removing them like wheel hop or a shitty ride? I was thinking of doing this becuase it will lower the rear of the truck about and inch and also lose some weight. Will traction improve or suck even worse? :bang:

i was thinking about doing it for traction purposes the spings have to be a little softer with that one out of there. maybe get a good squat out of it

Overload spring doesn't kick in until....... it's overloaded :D If you look at it you'll notice it doesn't curve with the rest of the leafs, the overload spring is there for when the suspension gets compressed to a certain point then it kicks in. I guess if you had enough power to really make it squat off the line it might help, but I drive a 4.8 wtf would I know about that:jest: Removing it should be ok aslong as the pinion angle doesn't get to thrown off. |

Ok, I was looking under the truck and there are 4 screws holding down two u-bolts which hold the leaf springs to the axle. Im guessing, loosening these then lifting the bed a little will remove the weight off the springs and then sliding out the overload spring will do the trick? Then tight everything back on. Will I have to check the pinion angle?

I'll get back in a little while. Wish me luck... :D |
Isn't there a screw/pin that goes through the leafspring pack to hold them together? Might be a lil more that just loosening the U-Bolts and sliding the over load spring out.

when i took mine out it had more wheel hop. not much to taking it out though
