Rear end strength?

Hey I'm trying to figure out what rear end is in my truck, it's an '04 Silverado 1500. I've tried doing some searching on the forum but cant seem to find. I could use the RPO codes I guess? I do know some 3.73's have been swapped in. But I just want to know what rear end is in it and how strong it is (hopefully not as weak as my Camaro's 10 bolt). I want to be able to launch it at the track at about 3k rpm (yes I have a stall) on drag radials. Any input?

rpo code is G80 for the limited slip.

they may have upgraded the carrier when swapping gears. pull the cover to check. has the truck been tuned for the gear swap?

I'm upgrading to a tru trac and TA girdle cover

They could have, it's not a one wheel peel. Yes it has been tuned for the gear swap.

Just found out it's the 8.5 10 bolt. Is that weak like the 7.5 10 bolts that come in the f body cars? I dont want to snap that shit at the track.

The 7.5" 10 bolt in the camaros was the weakest axle ever made by GM. The 8.6 10 bolt, if its 99+ can take some abuse. Several guys on here pushing 500+hp on a good locker and gears.

in a 2004, You have the 8.625 10 Bolt with 30 Spline axles. They are stronger then the Camaro unit for sure.

What usually kills them is wheel hop from burn out's and a lack of maintenance.

The factory G80 Gov lock doesn't like un-hooking and hooking back up. They typically explode inside.

If your gears were changed, the only way to know for sure is to open it up and see what's in it. Hopefully they put a good limited slip or a good locker in there.

I appreciate it. Good to know it can handle that much, although Im only around 320ish. Hopefully they did it right when they swapped the gears. Guess I need to go in there and see. Im ready to see what it will run at the track.

Usually not having traction mods will kill them in burnout as 1fastbrick mentioned.

Ok, I'll be looking into some mods then.
