neither are ideal for "off-road/4x4" use white1. Both become an open when one is in the air.
Didnt know if that would bother you since I know you still use your 4x4 and thats why you didnt want to keep your 5200 converter.
Have you looked into some kind of cable locker? to fully lock it when you want then have an open diff?
To answer your question I wouldnt give up my truetrac for anything. THe shop that puts mine in only stocks eaton's. The guy that works their has never seen this particular unit. Once he installed mine he said it was the best unit he has ever installed due to NO clutches. NO additives. Just put the syn lube in and go.

I usually try to keep my tires on the ground. I kinda wish I had the open carrier so I could just use a Powertrax or something similar. I didnt do much off roading this past year, and I live in the south, so its rare I have a wheel in the air, so hopefully the LS will be good enough for me. I do too much around town driving to want to deal with a true locker especailly at the added cost.
Thanks for taking that into consideration though.

how about this......
You can buy my Powertrax (with open diff. carrier, heck, I'll even throw in the original spider gears at no extra charge, just for you
), for say..... $500, then I'll go buy the Eaton and a set of 3.73's and I'll even let you install them for me
