Unhappy Reaching out for some tranny help...

It all started when something bound up in the Transfer Case of my 2000 Silverado 1500 4X4.
I left from a stop, put in in gear and heard a funky clunk, and after moving 3 feet I knew something was gonna lock up so I had it flatbedded to a mechanic and after draining the fluid foung metal shavings.

I found a junkyard Trandsfer Case for $400 rather than the rebuild at $1600 and it's good but apparently the tranny still has a problem. It got damaged when the transfer case locked up and rattles all through first and whirs in overdrive. It has at least 60K miles on it since I bought it after a fairly fresh looking rebuild. They want $2000 to rebuild my tranny but I want to hear my options on replacing it.
So far, I was told only 2 years will fit my year truck and they havent found any junkyard pulls. I was looking into replacing it rather than the rebuild because when I got the truck someone had drilled a hole and ran a bypass line that had it shifting at full line pressure and when I drove it on the beach it would'nt keep a steady throttle in 4wd and kept digging the tires into the soft sand which made it easy to get stuck.
I know that everyone recommends Performabuilt Trannys but I dont have any idea as to what I would need or if I need a torque converter or what stall and someone said that performance tranny's don't work well in 4wd on the sand for the driving I do on the beach.

I'm getting really confused and I'm really starting to miss my truck. Can anyone shed some light and start getting me back on track!

Thanks, Tom

What sort of power are you and do you plan to be making? What is the truck RCSB, crew cab, etc.? Is it your daily driver?

Performabuilt is top notch and will serve you better than a stock rebuilt for $2000. I would call them up and let them know your situation and they will steer you in the right direction.

PM VINCE B and have him build you a trans.

99-07 4L60 4L65 and 4L70E will work in your truck,

The shift kit pressures are different from the 60 to the 70E, your tuner can address that.
