I keep hearing Trutrac.

I'm back to ask anyone who replies about Trutrac units and on which one is preferred.
The Posi LSD or the Detroit locker. Why choose one over the other?

i think your a little cunfused.... Eaton makes a LSD Posi and a Detroit Tru Trac... the LSD uses clutches where the tru trac uses helical gears to control wheel slip..

they both work really well... the LSD is locked up from the get go because springs always have the cluch engaged... the tru trac works like an open until wheel slip is sensed... here is a pic of the insides of a Tru trac

the biggest advantage is that a tru trac doesnt wear out... my auburn works well when im going straight, but it sometimes slips when im flooring in whele turning.. (its wearing out)

ive driven a truck with a tru trac and i really like it.. it reacts really fast and hard...

I LOVE my trutrac. It's completely and utterly TRANSPARENT. No clunking, no noises, no jerks like the stock G80. Works perfect at the track and on the street. And it doesn't require and special additives or synthetic gear oil....just good ole 80w90.

Thanks, I was referring to both of the Eaton units, sorry.

Looks like I will be going with the Detroit Tru Trac this November. The truck will be paid off and the celebration will be in the form of ditching the 3.42's and G80.

Are you sure its open until needed? I hear they are a little noisy in slower tight turns.

they are silent. no noise.

Sometimes when it's wet out, on the sharp turn it will lock up both tires and jerk around a but, but that's it. Honestly, if someone drove my truck they'd never even know it wasnt the stock g80

Love my Tru-Trac!!!

its silent.. and its the only way to go... after driving one, its DEF what im getting next....
