My rear end is pointing 6 up as measured from the yoke with no drive shaft. To be a little more accurate you could call it 6.5 facing up.

And my transmission is pointing down 7, again I could call it 7.5 to be more precise. I made sure my angle finder was on the same side when I measured the rear end yoke and the trans yoke so I had repeatable data. So I am pretty confident about the readings.

So, do I have 13 as my magic number or -1? Which ever it is, how my much shim do I need to install in the leaf springs? Thanks for the help.

Yes that would be -1 and acceptable.

-1 or 0 depending on how my head was angled on my back holding the protractor while my wife took a pic. Looks like I would need to install at least a 3 degree shim to get rid of the 75+ MPH vibration wouldn't ya think?

Can try to zero it out, but it seems like maybe your vibe is not pinion angle related.

I'm having the same issue. Pinion angle is within 1 degree but get an aggressive vibration passing from 52-54 mph then a constant shake around 76. The vibration increase at higher speeds. Following to father more info.

So, vibes went bezerk while "following" a Pontiac G8 at about 125.

Took out the transmission, tail shaft completely broke off, broke off a bolt hole tab on the rear end pinion yoke, beat the **** out of the metal rock guard on the side of the gas tank. warped the drive shaft and broke off a bolt hole tab as well, gouged the gas tank but luckily it didn't puncture it.

So I have a new transmission from Monster, new drive shaft, new rear pinion yoke, patched the metal shield, flushed my transmission and sent off my Circle D verter for good measures. Also installed 4 degree shims in the spring back to drop the rear end angle some.

I also put in a new fuel pump, ran SS braided fuel lines, new FPR, new cam, new lifters, new intake, injectors, throttle body and new rear tires. Tuning it this weekend to see what happens and to see if the vibration is gone.

I had the time, the truck set in the driveway for three months while I did everything. Pulled the motor out and did the work on the stand.

The cam bearings looked trashed so I changed those too. I had to change the lifters because two had broken roller pins, luckily they didn't come off and drop in the motor and cause catastrophic issues!

We will see what the dyno numbers are, shooting for 420+ HP & 460+ TQ.
