Pinion angle
 

Can someone explain this to me. I know it changes when you drop the rear of the truck. Where do you put these shims we speak of? Help

They go between the axle and leaf springs. Sometimes you need to get a longer center pin, usually on shims over 4*.

So that will pick the back of the truck up a little then right? Which way does the wedge point Front or back?

Big part of the wedge goes in the back. I have mine shimmed 4¤ with a 5" rear drop. I know it still needs a little work but its way closer than it used to be.

im pretty sure the big part of the wedge goes in the front, to to angle your pinion downward a little, because it seems to me that the pinion would pointed a lil higher from stock and when you lower it you would want to rotate it down to stay from being such a harsh angle.

To get mine to smooth out I wound up with 3 degrees down (shim big end toward front), and about 1/2" worth of shims under the rear trans mount. Adding the TA Girdle also helped.

as seen in 5th and 6th pic down, you can tell its the front of the truck by the way the lines run. and the way the frame is.

Maybe mine are in the front too..... I honestly haven't looked at them in a long damn time... :jest: my brain isn't functioning well on 45min of sleep in the past 48 or so hours.... :bang:

Placement of the shims depends on the orientation of the axle and which way the pinion needs to be pointed. Usually after lowering the pinion needs to be rotated down. If your leaf springs sit ontop of your axle then the fat part of the wedge needs to be toward the front of the vehicle. If your axle sits ontop of the springs (axle flip) then the fat part of the "wedge" needs to be towards the rear of the vehicle to point the pinion down.
