I’ve locked my PI before a few time ls at around 100, worked great. But my 80e has every hard part there is so. I wouldn’t do it with stock shafts.

the more i talk to people with this converter, the more they locked them at WOT in 3rd and even sometimes in 2nd. Ill have to talk to my tuner and see what he says. Id love to get some back to back times at the local track to compare locked and unlocked. 2 passes a piece should be enough to decide for me.

Transbuilderguy is working on the transmission now. I was hoping to have it back by Oct but its cutting it close now. Ill ask for an update again today to see what he says. Again I have the 4l60 with literally every upgrade but 1st gear ratio change which i don't want. Including the new 3/4 th350 clutch upgrade. My 1st gear runs out to 50ish mph.

What did you do this time to have to send it back to Robert? I've seen the 3/4 clutch upgrade drum on his FB page.....man it looks nice.

He thinks I drove though the FTI single disk converter. It was getting hot and surging in and out of lock up.

I’m noticing a big rpm drop on these cold mornings putting the truck in gear. I let it run for usually 15 min before I even get in it. If I put it into reverse or drive and hold the brake it drops rpm into 300-400 then brings it back up. Once in a while stalls the truck. If I give it a little rev before putting it into gear, the rpm drop is minimal. Not sure for it’s the single digit weather up here now or the difference in converter compared to the lighter single disk I had before.

Just wondering.

Sounds like you might need a tune adjustment.

The triple discs are known to drag some, especially in 80s. But if yours in only in cold weather it can probably be tuned around as stated.
