yes, my old 6.0 is now in a 02 camaro SS with a t56...no issues

I think you might have issues with older 6.0's from 99-2000. The crank flange is a bit thicker, which is why they make the spacers for flexplates. I'm not sure on this though, but I do know that early 4.8's from 99-2000 that originally came with 5spd's have a different crank that will make the swap very difficult.

 

Ok ive run into a problem. Ive been trying to bleed the clutch out tonight, and havent had any success with it. I went threw a whole bottle of fluid in about 30 minutes of bleeding. When i start the truck up, i still cant get it in gear and the pedal feels like mush.

specs are
2004 6.0 block
1999 t56 from transam
2001+ slave cylinder with new bearing and shim behind it
stock truck master with steel braided line.
spec stage 3+ clutch.

Any ideas why i cant get it to work?

 

Doing multiple full pumps gets the fluid ariated with tiny bubles and you won't get it out. It may eventually work it's way out. The bubbles typically fall back out of the fluid in about 24 hrs. My recommendation is to not mess with it for a day and then do multiple fast (or slow doesn't matter) 1" short pumps. i'm talking doing 30-40 at a time and then wait a minute or two and repeat. do this many times with the occasional full pump to see what progress you have made. you can have the lid off the master with the short pumps and it won't spurt out. you will be able to see the bubbles working themselves out while you do this. I ran out of fluid while bleeding the other day and then next day didn't have anyone to help and I bled it out on my own by doing the short pumps. Again, multiple long stroke pumps is only needed one - three at a time when you are ready to bleed. multiple pumps just makes the air entrained in the fluid and it will take 2 days to get it bled if you pump it too much.

 

the clutch in my boys 02 ss was like that. we bled and bled and bled. this was after th drill mod. well we said **** it and started the car up. we let it idle and got soem pedal then drove it some and within 3 miles we had a firm clutch

Dan, what about the vacuum bleed method? Have you tried that?

 

I havent tried that yet. but i just retried bleeding it and no luck so far. I tried the little pumps with the cap off and everything. could i have a bad master or slave? Also the throw on the pedal doesnt seem like its that much. do i need a shim behind the mounting plate so it gets more throw?
