Odd Phenomenon
I sat my one month old torque converter in my van when I changed my trans last fall. The GM rebuild included a converter. Anyway, I walked by the van yesterday a saw trans fluid dripping from the side door. WTF? Here's what I found:
Of course it wasn't overflowing when I put it down. There must be a lot of expansion from air inside of it. Cool, huh?
I am going to sell it. Does anyone think that my trans damage would hurt the converter any? If you remember the pics of the debris in my pan, it was all chunks, no filings.

A. I hope you didn't buy that converter retail. It's WAY overpriced and underperforms. Its a hughes converter...prettymuch all stock.
B. YES the converter needs to be cut and cleaned. No way I would sell that and tell someone it was ok.
C. Not odd at all to have converters do this when pulled and sat like this

Maybe, but its stall speed was as advertised. I wanted to make sure that if it might be contaminated that I don't put it up for sale here. Let's see what happens if I put it on eBay with the full disclosure story. I won't feel bad if I can still sell it after I say it's from a blown trans. Maybe someone will help me recover some of the way over priced ...price
