Default Nitto’s or Mickey Thompson drag radial?

I am trying to decide on the better of the two drag radials?

275/40r20 is the size tire I am going with.
Does any one have first hand experience with thes two tires
Nitto NT555R
or
Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S

I've run both tires over the years (in different sizes). Mickey Thompson is my choice.

I've always hear to them referred to as this:
the Nitto is a sticky street tire. The M/T is a streetable race tire. I'd have to agree based on what I've seen results-wise.

i agree with this. Nitto 555r was an amazing tire & the Mickey T is noticeably better.

The M/T's are softer and will hook better but the Nittos will last longer and still grippy on the street. Depends on if you want a good track tire or something to put some decent power down on the street and still last a little while.

My plan for these tires are to put them on Sunday to go racing then take them off that night. Does that change anyone’s opinion?

If you're looking for a track only setup you should consider a 15-16" rim setup. The 20's leave a lot to be desired in general no matter what rubber, unless you're running 4 of them. (4wd truck) if you're planning on changing tires anyway there are some pretty decent inexpensive rim options out there now as well as much better tires in thise rim sizes.

A 20" street tire is a different ball game entirely than something for the track only, or for the odd drive on the street.

I have a 2 wheel drive 2017 Silverado 1500 with
the 6.2 L86 a Whipple supercharger, Kooks headers
I don’t think I can run 15” wheels on the back. I was told 17” was the smallest I could run.
Am I correct in thinking 17’s are the smallest diameter wheel I can run on the rear with disc brakes?
with the set up I have. Do you think the 275/40-20 Mickey-Thompson et street s/s are the way to go.

With minor modifications, a 15 or 16 is doable. If you want a bolt-on and go setup, even a 17" wheel/tire offers a better option than the 20. Sidewall height, weight, cost etc... so no, I still say any 20" tire currently offered isnt going to get you what you want traction-wise.

Whats your motivation for wanting a 20" wheel at the track? It's basically goes the opposite direction of what a "track" wheel/tire setup is supposed to accomplish.

if you MUST run a 20 for whatever reason, go with the M/T, hands down. I just have very serious doubts that it's going to hook or perform well on a setup such as yours. Physics just aren't in your favor there.
