NBS and NNBS 4l60E 2wd interchangeability??

Are all of the 99-06 2wd transmissions interchangeable? Whether reg, ext, or crew cab? V8 or V6?

Car-part seems to suggest the different cab configurations use different transmissions.

However, car-part also shows NBS and NNBS transmissions to be interchangeable. Is this correct?

I need to buy one today, so please help.

Mods, feel free to move this to drivetrain after I get some replies.

the new ones have some kind of different speed sensor in them. I wouldn't think they are interchangeable. The 99-06 should all be interchangeable, given that you get 2wd or 4wd correlating to your stock trans.

So an 06 will definitely work in an 01? I'm 95% sure it will, I just want to confirm before I buy.

One last ttt if anyone else wants to comment.

well the NNBS , come with a 4l65E , which have a larger Band & pump . . but Core should be the same. just had mine re-built . . i think u should be more worried about driveshaft lenght . . not the tranny ... .

I'm positive the 99-07classics are identical externally and functionally. You should be able to take a TRUCK 4L60E and swap them out without any problems. I believe the car version would work as well, but they may have a different tail housing length which would require a driveshaft modification.

Do the 07-08 4L60s have the second VSS similar to what the 4L70E and 4L80Es have?

TTT- I need to know this also.

Hey Bad Action, I ended up putting a 2006 CC trans in my mom's 2001 EC. It worked out fine. Just don't tell the yard that you are doing that, or they will void your warranty (90% of salvage yard employees are idiots from my experience). The first yard I went to, the guy freaked out on me for trying to do that. If he had seen my truck and the various years of parts on it, he probably would have had a heart attack.

I still don't know if a NNBS trans will bolt up to a NBS, but I wouldn't recommend trying it.

99-07 classic are all identical and interchangeable (2wd and 4WD use different output shaft.)

V6 is still the sbc style pump and converter but you can use the 6.0 spacer and flywheel to accomodate using it in an LS powered truck.

That's why they work where they do.
