just the plain old newer style 8.5 i thought. same rear from late 80's to present, unless its the HD like 1 ton etc. i could be wrong but im pretty sure they are all the same.

i grabbed a ;ocker out of the junk yard ot of like an 89 truck to put in my 99 gmc sierra. i was told the only differance between the older and newer is the spline count. and of course the width might diff between some housings (like from blazer to k series etc).

It's a 30 spline 8.625" 10 bolt. Same ring gear size as older 8.5" rear ends, but the spline count is indeed different and the bearings are different as well.

leon piper is fukd....the 99+ 10 bolts get bigger carrier bearings... unless you have a 88-98 box body......i understand that the box body ran into 99 also.......they all share the same size ring gear tho
