McGaughys 2" Drop Spindles....

So I installed a set of McGaughys drop spindles on my 2004 Silverado last weekend. I have a set of Silverado SS wheels at powder coating right now so I am still running my 17" wheels.

My question and concern has to do with the lower ball joints. I knew I was going to have to "trim" the lower ball joints but I was surprised with how far I to had to go. I not only removed ALL of the remaining threads from the ball joint but I had to also grind into the nut as well and it is still SCARY close to the wheel (1/32"-1/16").

I'm not bashing the McGaughys drop spindles. They make GREAT stuff and I am VERY happy with the drop! I am just concerned about having to grind into the locking nut on the bottom spindle.

Does anyone else have experience with the McGaughy's spindles and 17" wheels?

Any input would be greatly appreciated....

Yup I had to do the same here grinded all the threads off and a lil of the nut,,,, but never had any problems tighten the crap out of it and it will be ok ...I put loctite

Same here...even belltechs spindle kits tell you to trim the ball joint and they come with skinny nuts!

Thanks for the input guys!

I was just kind of scared to grind into a self locking nut but I didn't use loctite on the threads so I will be doing that tonight.

What did you torque the nut to? I think I did something like 140 ft/lbs.....
