Makes a "clunk" sound when I stop...

90% of the time when I come to a complete stop, it makes a clunk sound in the rear.

Could anyone give me an idea as to what that may be?

Thanks

well, I have the same problem in my 06 Z71 with 8K miles, according to GM we are to belive their piece of paper that says it's normal, just slack in the drivetrain and ignore it. I believe it is slack (proably slip yoke or poor mating between the ring gear) I honistly doubt it will hurt anything but just be damn annoying.

Try pulling the drivehaft and lubing the slip yoke, inside and outside. It can get dry and start to stick, causing it not to slide back and forth as easlily as it should.

How Did You Lower Your Rear End? You Might Check The U Bolts On The Axle To See If They Are Loose....mine Made The Same Noise After I Lowered It With A Flip Kit.....

The plastic pads on the bottom leaf spring could be missing. A little axle wrap can cause the springs to contact making a noise.

My truck used to do the same thing. The solution above took care of the problem. I would try this 1st since it only takes about 15 minutes to drop the driveshaft and put some grease on the slip yoke.

I heard the slip yoke will cause this sometimes. It could be your rear brakes as well.
To test, before coming to a stop, place your truck in neutral and apply your brakes and come to a stop. If it still does it, it is your rear brakes. If it is silent, it is in the slip yoke or some other driveline components.
