can I make my current 4l60 strong enough to handle an LS6 swap? If not what would be the best option, money is an issue.

I'd start searching for a 4L80E. I bet you can get one a lot cheaper than a built 60E.

 

What transmissions do the vettes use and would I be able to just bolt up a 01' or so vette drivetrain? (LS6, trans)

all of the LS6s have 6 speeds behind them, if that tells you anything

 

I see I've just started looking into the swap and I don't know how much of this I will be able to do myself. I was hoping I could just bolt up the drivetrain so I wouldn't have to deal with as many programming issues with the computer........

 

im going ot tell you this you can have a 60 built very strong and to hold up. mine has held up over 4500 miles since its little eposide with a faulty part. and its behind a decent built 6.0 and 3800 stall
