Default Need your ideas traction issues...

Well I bought Ruffrider5.3's 2003 rcsb. It's a 2003 with a 5.3, STS GT67, cam, headers, etc. and... one leg. Awesome truck and I love it!!! but no traction whatsoever. It does have a GT4 (3.73 gears) but know G80 so you know what that means. My question for you guys is what should I do, I have access to a lot of wrecks so I could pick up a G80 fairly easy, or should I put a locker of some sort in what I got, maybe lower gears??? Here's the factory invoice so you can see what the base truck is. All help would be greatly appreciated, thx.

If you do have easy access to parts then find a G80 and try that. If you don't like it or break it easy then get an eaton or detroit true track. If you can spend less money and still hook then that be your way. Going to 4:10s will only make your traction battles on the street worse. get one of the lockers and take it from there

I would keep a 373 gear in it, with it being a turbo. Also invest in getting a GOOD rear, like a eaton or tru trac.. Try to run a set a sticky street tires or DR's if you can. Alot of us are running CAL-Trac bars, they work good for the track, but for street use, throw them out the window.. If you make power and are 2wd it is almost impossible to hook up on the street, other then driving around on slicks, you still have to heat them up...

Cal-tracs, decent street tires.. It was a lil cold out, but you get the point

No only other way to go FACTORY is a 14 bolt, but it is cheaper to buy a good after market EATON or Tru trac
