Lockup clutch is gone
#1
TCI streetfighter, clutch went out yesterday while driving. It acts like it will partially lock allowing less slip then when unlocked but the rpms only drop by a couple hundred and it will rev very easily.
Temp stays around 160 when warmed up in traffic, when the converter should be locked Im seeing over 100% slip, when I command the silenoid to lock it will not.
Will it hurt anything if the clutch completely fails while its trying to lock?
Who has had a tcc failure while driving?

Mine went out while driving too. Lasted 12K. I beat the **** out of it at the track then on the way home it was being very touchy locking up and by the time I got home(~50mile drive) it was totally gone. Gotta love TCI quality

I guess 32k out of a tiny racing converter in a heavy pig truck is good, I have beat on this thing relentlessly the past 2 years with a good 40 track passes and countless WOT on the road. I got my money worth for less than 400 bucks
Now if my tranny doesnt crap out Ill be set. Its been shifting funny for the past 6 months

Ive decided to put the stocker back in and go with my own grind this time, should be interesting.

Had the stock one swapped in yesterday and I have no more idling issues, I have no more KR even with alot more timing, drivability is greatly improved, transmission shifts better.
The gt2-5 222/222 112 is very drivable with the stock stall. It doesnt kick in until 2800 but there is still power down low. Overall Im very suprised, should have done this a long time ago.
Its now a pleasure to drive the truck again. I will never buy another TCI product as long as I live.
