a winch is a hell of alot cheaper than 4wd and is almost always gauranteed to get you out. Unless you have lockers front and rear you don't have true 4wd anyhow. Lift it....buy a winch and pull the 4x4 boys out when they get stuck. Invest in a GOOD locking rear diff and you will be surprised how well your 2wd truck does off road.

definitely plan on addressing the brakes....nothing kills me more than someone who throws 35" tires on factory brakes. they DO NOT stop worth **** and are dangerous. no shame in lifting a 2wd truck. Hell REAL 4x4's have a solid axle out front anyhow

At the beach, even my 2wd went thru the sand better with the larger, wider tires.

I probably went offroad more in that 2wd truck than most guys do in their 4x4 trucks.
I must agree, I have driven over many a curb after being blocked in lots by morons who thought you'd be there all night.

I think it's kinda of pointless if you're just going for 'looks'. But it's your truck so do what ever you want. I'd look at the CST long travel kit. It'll give tons of travel up front, and a good locker in the rear with decent tires and you'll be able to go quit a few places. If you are just going for looks, I'd just stay cheap and get a body lift and slap some 285's on it.

I love 2wd lifts. None of this 3 innch crap either. But that 7 inch fabtech kit is sweet. Put some 35s on 18 or 20 inch wheels, and that thing would be hot. Stay away from the body lift though, not too safe, and they squeeeeek.

I like the 2WD lifted, I would do it but it was cheaper for me to do the lowering (2/4 with 18's) than the lift and the big tires so I went that way. If I coud swing it I would lift mine.

I've got an 05 2wd Crew 1500 with the ProComp 7" lift and 35's and love it. Just keep in mind that you are going to have to throw gears in it. 35's and stock 3.73's just dont cut it if you are pulling any type of grade.

A lifted 2wd truck can take you alot of places a 4x4 can't go. Like 60mph through foot high whoops in the desert. Try getting 16" of travel in a 4x4 for less than 20g's.

I have been contemplating doing the same thing latley and its the same price basicall to lift or lower. 4" spindles $289.00 2" blocks for rear, and a 3" body will be the way I go if I do it though. When I went to vacation in Panama City last year there were a ton of lifted 2wd's around and they looked sweet.
