lol! Don't do what? The gears? The DiabloSport Intune i2? Or the in JMS pedalmax?

FYI I just want a "more fun" driving experience around town. Seems to me the pedal has a lot of delay and the that it is always lugging around barely getting over 2K...

Thanks.

He is refering to the tuning software. Dont get a handheld "tuner" or programmer. Get a custom tune from a professional tuner. They will tune it specifically for your mods.

Yeah I hear ya... and if I had any other mods I would. My truck is bone stock except for a Magnaflow muffler. I wanted to get gears because I really believe it lugs around and never even gets into the powerband. But if I change the gears, I also have to change the gear ratio in the computer, so that is why I was gonna get the Intune i2. And then on a related issue, I think it has a very "heavy" pedal aka the pedal response is terrible. Thus the JMS pedalmax popped up on my radar. However I haven't seen anyone with a 2007-2014 GM truck post anything about the pedalmax, or if it is redundant with the Intune i2...

I went down the mod rabbit hole with a 2nd Gen Camaro... And after everything I did and I did everything... (gears, heads, headers, cam, rollers, trans, CAI, stall, intake, fuel injection, radiator, water pump, fuel tank, serpentine, etc, etc) the thing that made the most difference, IMHO, was the regearing. Of course, everything helped but if I look at each individual mod, the gears (by themselves) made a big difference. That is why I immediately thought about changing the gears on this truck...

All thoughts, recommendations, etc. welcome.

What did it cost you 4x4 guy's to swap gears?

Do you have 6 speeds or 4 speeds?

@ Choda I have a 2wd and my quotes range from 800.00-1200.00 with OEM gears, install kit, fluids, etc. I imagine 4wd would be more than twice that because the front is more expensive than the rear...

For the cost of the Intune i2, you are better off just buying HP Tuners and do the changes yourself. You'll be much happier with an actual tuner like HP Tuners.

Most of the slow pedal response can be taken out with a tuner like HP, they hold back the opening rate in 1st gear some and torque mngt and predicted knock tables will hold power back. Most of that can be disabled/reduced to give you a much better driving feel.

After owning HP Tuners for over 5 years now, I'd never not want to have something as capable as this software.

@FFPD Thanks. Ok one thing I forgot to mention... I live in the fascist state of Kalifornia... We can't have anything that actually works or is cool. So there's that and the fact that I know nothing about tuning...

I am guessing that y'all are referring to something like this: HP Tuners 6021 VCM Tuner? If so, I get this B.S. as soon as I add it to my cart "This item cannot be shipped to your selected location."

Which is another reason I wanted to change the gears, it's something I can actually do in Kalifornia without inciting the wrath of the smog police.

Yeah that looks like the PRO interface, they also sell a standard interface depending on your needs. The pro makes it easier to wire in a wideband on non-can-bus vehicles.

Find a smaller retailer that sells HP Tuners. Atomic Performance is a vendor on here that sells HP Tuners, hit him up and he can ship to anywhere.
