Ideal driveshaft for 05 RCSB 4x4 4L80e swap, will be 4WD launch

Hey all, I've been doing a lot of searching. What is the ideal driveshaft setup for a 4wd launch RCSB turbo truck? My stock shaft is steel. I can have the TH400 yolk installed on my stock rear driveshaft and have it shortened. And I've read I can purchase a 2500HD shaft part # 15182094 or have my stock one lengthened. Just looking for tips so I don't break shafts at high speed, or during launches.

No need to change your rear shaft yoke, it will go into your existing transfer case. But it will need to be shortened by a driveline shop. I would have them balance it too.

I just dropped them off at Coast Driveline. Total to shorten rear 1 11/16" , lengthen front 1 11/16" and all new front and rear u-joints for both shafts was $490. That includes high speed balance.

AK, do you think the stock front and rear shafts are fine? I know there are soooooo many guys on the forum in the 10s and 11s on the stock shafts (maybe even the 9s lol) but the guys at the driveline shop is recommending I go 3.5" and thicker wall, which would of course cost me a lot more money....

You should be just fine.

Not sure what they're charging you to lengthen from shaft, but I paid about 100 for mine on ebay. It is from a 2500hd 5 speed truck and was a perfect fit with the 4l80e swap on my 06 rcsb.

I thought about the eBay driveshaft, but I read that there are several different lengths for the 2500 HD front shafts, and I didn't want to play the back and forth game and get an old shaft that needed u-joints anyway. Coast Driveline is shortening the rear, lengthening the front, putting in new Spicer u-joints and doing high speed balancing for $490. A bit on the expensive side, but they are local and they'll be done tomorrow. If I can figure out how to get HP Tuners 2.25 beta (can't get a damn response from HP tuners email support), I can drive this thing this weekend. :eek2:
