Hydroboost Conversion, how to with pics

yes, but the old pedal is free, and probably not rusty or messed up since it's inside the truck. the only boosters that are different are the vans vs. trucks. the van boosters are close to the OBS size at around 7.5" firewall to rod tip, while the SUVs and trucks have the same booster with the shorter rod length, around 5.25" or so. the short answer is Yes, you CAN mix and match pedals and boosters within the same chassis (truck/SUV vs Van) but you can't mix truck pedals and van boosters.
All of this, of course, is assuming you're looking for a bolt-in option. if you intend to modify or fabricate anything, then you can use whatever you want. I would have used a Van booster had I found one, since I could have left the brake pedal rod alone, but I have a 98 (OBS) so I was modifying stuff anyway.

I had the same issue on my 03. The nut was hitting the firewall so I filed the hole a little bit. I didnt have any issues with my 04.

Iirc correctly i had to shave the bottom of the hole on my 99, may have been the top that was a while ago... I know i drilled the hole that gm dimpled the firewall for, and then used my drill bit as a dremel(wee hours of the am and middle of nowhere and wanted it done) to clearance it but i wanna say the sheet metal was already stamped where i needed to trim it.....
