How much does a girdle help?

I have a 4.56 and a trutrac. I make around 550 rear wheel horse and about 700 ft lbs. on spray in all. Is a girdle really gonna help with much more strength. I don't have one and have made about 40 passes so far with zero problems. What will a girdle give me in added safety?

It will help keep the center section of the rear from flexing under hard load. It also has 2 bolts that you adjust to push against the bearings in the housing for the axles.. Basicall puts more rigidity in the rear, less flex

When I bought my Truetrac, I was considering springing for a MagHytec cover. It has that slick lil dipstick to check fluid level. I was told my needs would be far better served & for less $, by goin to a girdle for exactly the reason John said. Less flex in the cover, & the 2 studs can apply preload to minimize that.

Which one is the best value?

Jegs, thunder racing is about the same thing. I am sure there are many diff companies that make them. I have one from thunder racing I picked up for like 75 buks off the site. I think they retail for like 175 or so..

Thanks, Ron

FWIW, my father and all of his smaller hp customers all run TA Girdles. (smaller hp being the guys that "only run" 9's and 10's). Last time I was at the track with them I happened to take notice how they all had them and questioned my pop as to why they all use them and he told me that "they work", and help keep the rear from flexing, as mentioned above. He said that it was definitely a good bang for the buck mod
