Which 4L80E should I get?
I've been reading a lot of mixed info about just how strong the 4L80E is so I figured id just run this by you guys to get some final answers. The day the turbo was installed my stock 4l60 started slipping so I turned the boost down for now. The truck has a cammed lq4 with a turbo running 10 lbs of boost. I don't plan on doing much else to the truck for now so I'll be staying in the same power range. I've been going back and forth trying to decide whether or not to buy a built 4l80 or a stocker from somewheres like ebay. So my questions are:
Would a stock rebuilt 4l80 hold up with my setup?
If not, what would need to be done to make it hold up?
Would it just end up being wiser buying a built 4l80?
I am low on funds from the turbo so the more moolah I save the better.

I have been running mine, with the STS up to 12psi, for over 4 years on the stock 4L80E and stock TC. I put a Transgo HD2 shift kit in mine. It has been shifting too hard for over a year and has not broken yet (knock on wood...LOL). It shifts hard enough I had to replace my flywheel because it ob-longed the bolt holes from the jarring shifts (just figured out the hard shifting problem).

I was wondering about that, some of those ebay rebuilts seem eerie. Well I found a factory take out with 9k miles for $900. That sound like a decent deal?

2002+ has all the factory 'good' parts. Mine's a 98 and is still good....but I had to import mine and didn't have the opportunity to be fussy.
I know of people who've picked up 2002+ 80E's over there for $500 or so....with less than 500 miles on them.
