got me a GTO T56

I just picked up an 04 t56 with 23,000 miles on it for my upcoming swap...found it on craigslist in mass...the car was wrecked and broke the top shifter mounting plate and the hydraulic fitting for the clutch...but i was going to use a short throw shifter anyways and for $1500 i didnt think it was too bad...now i gotta hunt for the rest of the parts!

I still just have the LS2 flywheel, LS7 clutch, LS1 Slave, Pilot bearing, and camaro lower shift boot. The trans, driveshaft and gears is all i need oh and the tuning shit :(

Doesn't the GTO T56 have the better gearing?

I believe so, but i am not for sure.

yes...it has lower 1st and 2nd gears so that should help with the extra weight of the truck...

Actually all 6 gears are lower. It's a much better suited trans for a 4000 lb car and or truck. You'll need to change the shifter cup as well. If you use the GTO bellhousing you need a gto started (it's smaller). You can reuse your master cyl, cross member and all wiring. Only thing you should need new are the trans, slave cyl, clutch, pressure plate, starter, shifter, shifter cup, front driveshaft yoke.

So basically use the GTO trans, with the normal LS1 Bellhousing. You be good hahah

ok ill have to call the guy to see if i can get the starter...now my truck being a 4wd has a different cross member than the 2wd correct? i remember reading the factory 2wd will work fine...now what do i use for a shifter/shifter cup...are the front driveshaft yokes the same as any f-bodied t56 or just is mine different seeing its a GTO T56...thanks for the clarification...

You are converting to 2wd? If not, I am unaware of an adapter module and output shaft that will allow you to keep your transfer case.
