GMT800/900 10-bolt differences

I recently got rid of a GMT-800 rear axle I was going to use for a project that died when I got my SIerra...

I noticed that the rear axle housing is shaped different.

Is there any internal differences between the two?

When my G80 dies I'd like to be able to shop for a replacement, but without knowing for sure, it's difficult...

My search-fu is weak :(

Thanks in advance!

Centersection and gears are the same, I'm pretty sure the two axles are identical

^^ correct. same ring and pinion as the gmt800 and same locker/bearing combo needed. seals i have no idea, i didnt change mine bc i only had 40k on the truck.

Sweet deal.

I know the cover seal is a LOT more expensive than the old 8.5/6...
But it's also rubber instead of paper, lol.

Cover seal? I've always used gray RTV for all my covers

I don't normally have time to wait for RTV to dry...
