First time Stall owner: Is my stall "Loose"???
 
I know this may sound dumb but you guys have alot more experience with stalls and these truck than i do.


Also, i did not start this thread ofr it to be a " I TOLD YA SO" where everyone just tells me my stall purchase was dumb and I shulda went with a sponsors product. I bought what i bought I am just trying to get an idea of how it stacks up against YOUR trucks stalling. Simply because I dont know how easy it should stall.

Heres the deal. I purchased a Midwest 3200 from a member. The stall works fine and drives pretty good in my 01 6.0 ecsb, boltons, 60e, 3.42 stock gear.

After some discussion from other people I am trying to get an idea if my stall is considered "loose" or about normal.

The truck pulls off near normal rpm but under throttle quicky/smoothly revs towards 2K to get to speeds. I can get up to normal driving speeds with light throttle and anywhere from 1,500-2,000. I can foot brake 2K with street tire easily. If im easing along at say 2,000-2,500 rpm I can hit it and it shoots to 3K with ease and pulls.
If I lean on it a little harder (medium to slightly heavy throttle) it will stall 3K and get it moving alot quicker and I mean 50% throttle not WOT.

It doesn't feel slower at WOT and doesn't seem to be less efficient. But when it comes to a stall in a truck I really dont have anything to relate to.

not sure if this will tell anything but for fun heres WOT at about 30 mph, I let off slightly at the end.

sounds kind of tight. i was told mine is somewhat tight and the only way i can get up to speed is staying between 2000-2400 rpm. anything lower just takes forever to get up to speed. but im no stall guru! just going by what i heard in the past.

Im thinking loose but idk.

Just like you said getting up to and staying at speed requires 2000+ before it locks up. but I can slightly jab it and it will hit 3k like nothing.

rereading your post that sounds good to me then. i guess my concern comes from a truck with a stock stall and now being stalled it feels SO different and im just not used to it yet.

its funny though. My wife and i rode in it the other day instead of taking her car. She said, whats wrong with the truck? It acts like its struggling. lol I said dont worry its the stall, its supposed to do that. She got mad because she thought i done something that hurt my truck and it isnt good for it.

reading how you described it (video wont work, as Im at work), it sounds like it drives exactly the same as my "3k" behind my 4.8. I have a 220 cam in it as well. I quote 3k as I do not know for sure.
Anyway, mine does the same, and at part throttle it seems to never drop under like 2500 and its a very smooth constant power instead of like the shift is real noticeable and it seems to lag.

Mine at medium throttle hits 4-4200 so yours is tight compared to mine

haha trust me i have been having trouble not gettin on it. Until i can redo my rear and fix my issues.

If you can put it in gear and just barely increase the throttle to 1500-2000rpm and it accelerates like it did before then it's considered tight. If you barely touch the throttle and it jumps up to 3000 rpm to start moving then it would be considered very loose.
