Default A few basic shackle questions.

Well, I am keen on ordering a set of Belltech 2" shackles from Summit since it is right down the road from me. Here are my questions:

1. Do I just order a quantity of (1) to cover both sides?
2. Are there any noticable drivability/handling gains or losses from them?
3. How simple is the install? Can it be done with hand tools in my garage?
4. I'm guessing the wheels need to be removed and rear of the truck jacked up. Is this true?

Thank you for any information that you can give!

1. Yes.
2. Ride comfort may suffer a little, but nothing major.
3. Simple. Yes.
4. Yes.

No problem.

you dont have to take off the wheels, I didnt. But, if it makes it easier..

I noticed no difference in handling or ride.

And all you need is a little common sense to install them.

I did it and then, after I looked at it for a couple weeks I decided that 2" just wasn't enough so then I had to order the hangers at a greater cost than buying the kit in the first place. So, be sure that 2" will be enough. Later Jim

I Did it last saturday in about 45min. set the frame on jackstands and use the floorjack to raise and lower the axle. one wheel off at a time is what I did. Pretty simple. I Think it drives a little better, seem like less body roll with it being lowered.

They are very simple to do and it makes such an improvement in looks. Do a search as there are several threads about installing shackles and it should give you a few hints.

If you haven't ordered already, I have a set of belltech shackles in my garage I would be willing to let go of. Shoot me a pm.

If you have a hitch(like I do) it takes a little longer but is still easy. I didn't feel like bench pressing my hitch and trying to bolt it in at the same time. Remove the 2 bolts holding it to the bumper and the 3 bolts on the side you are working on, then just loosen the opposite side to let it drop on the side you're on.
