Is there any difference from the trans in a 5.3 and a 4.8?


They both are 4l60e,s right? Any difference at all?

Thats what i figured. My old man got a 99 SC with a 4.8 and a guy was selling a running 5.3 for like 5oo bucks i think and argued that my dad couldnt use it since the trans needed to be swapped...


Another question i realize isnt trans oriented but is the harness for a 4.8 different from a 5.3?

I'm pretty sure they are the same. You would just have to get the computer tuned for a 5.3L

a 5.3 is just a 4.8 with a longer stroke...they are shaped identically and are completely interchageable but as oakley said retune is strongly recommended.

anyway, i've never understood people who try and talk people out of buying something they're trying to sell...
