Driveshaft measurement for 80e Swap?

Does anyone know the measurement (and exactly how to measure) for the main driveshaft when changing from a 4L60e to 4L80e on a 2004 Silverado SS?

2wd or 4wd?

Assuming your AWD roughly 2" less than stock length .

Oh, I missed the SS part. If you have a 04 SS then you are AWD, the difference in trans length is 1 11/16 so that is how much you would shorten your rear driveshaft if you want to keep the same slip yoke position. If your yoke only has like .5" travel left then I would just call it 2"

I ended up shortening my rear shaft 1 7/8"

Awesome! Thanks a lot guys. I'm doing my 80 swap this weekend so this will save me a ton of time. Thanks again!

Thanks, I have read a lot of them. Just hope I don't screw anything up since this will be my first trans swap!
